Not only is it great to keep in touch with friends that don't live in the same city that I do, but it is also an easier way of communicating with people around the university campus. We all know that people constantly check Facebook. Therefore, we know our message will get to them. Events and committees post recent news or announcements continuously. This is a way of everyone to be connected and well informed.
I however am not in favor of the fact that employers and universities judge your abilities to work from Facebook profiles. I believe there should be a line drawn to a certain extent between work/school and each individual's personal lives. It is a good way to be informed yet a terrible form to be judged.

Nice blog, Maria Jose! It is intrusive that business look up people's facebook profiles, but at the same time, I find that almost to be expected...it's the interent. Awesome job on your hyperlink! And though your post is quite appealing and colourful, please know that we're trying to learn to write in a professional-academic setting so let's keep it professional--and in one colour :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, businesses should keep their noses out of your personal life. What you do in your personal life has nothing to do with how you handle your professional life.
ReplyDeleteI also love facebook for keeping me in touch with so many amazing people. People, especially adults, need to pay more attention to facebook as a means of communicating and reaching our generation, and those to come.
I completely agree, Maria. I absolutely don't think employers should judge employees by their facebook pages, but facebook is a great way to keep in touch!
ReplyDeleteMaria Jose,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with what you said about maintaing communication with people that you meet from out of town, or even out of the country. I know that Facebook has recently had a huge BOOM in Argentina and it has been the greatest way to keep in touch with my friends there.
